Today was the 10th anniversary of the flooding of New Orleans.
Notice that I didn’t call it “Katrina” and no informed person should either.
What really happened ten years ago in New Orleans, the city where jazz was born – and still lives?
New Orleans and the people of New Orleans are important and not just because of the city’s historical role in jazz and its continued important role as a capital of culture. The bottom line: The storm did not destroy New Orleans. Bad levee design and construction did.
